I can't remember when I last drank a GPD. I really liked this 2004.
It was taut and poised on opening. Classy nose of red currants even hints of cherries, graphite and lead pencil it is trademark Pauillac. It has excellent balance and poise. Lovely fresh and clean entry with cool fruit. This is a very well made wine. Nice gentle grippy tannins, very smooth on the palate and a satisfying finish.

Grand-Puy-Ducasse seemed to pull out all the stops in 2004 - it was a wine I liked as well. 2005 was equally good, although no vintages since, including 2009 and 2010, seem to have lived up to this promise of a resurgence in this chateau's fortunes.
