A little midweek celebration, so I uncorked and decanted this for an hour. ' 95 Haut Brion first offers medium garnet color with a subtle spiced nose. There is nothing forward and thrilling on the palate, but if blind you would know that this is the 1st Growth Graves. Tobacco is up front, with minerals and some lean red plummy fruit in the background. The medium length finish is earthy.
Susan and I much prefer the 1996, with it's more concentrated layers of ripe fruit.

Took the words out of my mouth, Jim!
Stefan, do you think this is the kind of wine that could do a Cinderella thing and knock your socks off in 10-15-20 years?

Glad to hear that because I've got five bottles remaining. I'll revist ' 95 HB sometime when I'm really old, and post again.
