Portugal red lovers?

Post by Nicklasss »

Last night, the 2015 Vale de Cavalos Douro was just a perfect inexpensive red wine. Nice nose, fruity and flowery, with also some spices. In mouth, rich, ripe, only 13 % alcohol, with a nice freshness. Rasberries and blackberries, mixed with herbs and flowers. Decent long finish. A no fault for... 17$! Don't know how it will age, but superb right now. Tn: 89-90. I recommend it strongly.

A sign the wine was excellent, we finished the entire bottle MC and me, that don't happens often.

Anyone enjoying Portugal reds?

I have a 2015 Monte Velho I've been saving since last year. I think it will be opened before summer 2018 is over though.

Not recently but I have mentioned once or twice that a 1968(?) Caves Velhas Garrafeira was really the first aged/mature wine that i ever had and it made a real impression on me about what a wine was supposed to become. There are some excellent red table wines in Portugal. It's not all about Port.
