1996 PLL in the zone

Post by jckba »

Not sure whether this is because I am a PLL devotee or what, but this is the best wine I have drank all year. This wine is firing on all cylinders and if you own any, I urge you to open one up and tell me otherwise

1996 Pichon Lalande; wonderfully fragrant blackberry, earthy, cedar, bell peppery goodness that makes my eyes roll, and leads to an elegant, insanely smooth black cherry and tobacco driven palate that is light yet develops as it coats, builds and persists as it lingers on the palate. 97 points and wishing I had bought much more and in larger formats!

Thanks for your note JC. One of my biggest regrets is not buying this before the price soared.

Awesome, what little I bought was drank up far too young.

Love that wine... a favorite for sure.

Had a screaming good bottle of 1996 Ducru Beaucaillou last night, along with an equally impressive bottle of 2001 Ch d'Yquem. Sadly, a bottle of 1990 Gaja Sperss was corked.
