- 2003 Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac (1/15/2019)
Cellared since release, perfect cork and fill. Dark red, minimal lightening at rim. After an hour in the glass to get a little air and warm from cellar temp, there is a deep rich nose of cassis, black cherry, tobacco, hints of smoke/tar and a nice streak of green. Medium body, great balance, structure built on both acid and tannin, flavors follow the nose, medium/long finish. Beginning complexity. Many years to go. Excellent.

So the 2002 and 2003 PLLs are both BWE kind of wines. Or maybe PLL is just a BWE kind of wine? Is it fair to say PLL is towards the AFWE end of the spectrum?

Not sure if I would call PLL "AFWE" but for a long time it was known for having a green streak due to use of Petit Verdot. I think that they are no longer doing that as much these days though. But it would have covered these years.
