BAMA
Wow. No love for BAMA.
Just did a search. And here I thought this was a Bordeaux-lover’s Bordeaux website of true Bordeaux lovers that know Bordeaux.

Roll Tide!
I’d never even heard of it until you started posting on it in WB.

Re: BAMA
I got all nervous and bought some more of it and Jaugueyron, worried about you and Pat getting the bug!

Next thing we’ll know, Dufort Vivens and Rausan Gassies will start getting some AFWE love.

Re: BAMA
This has me thinking we should organize a ‘Parker Pisser’ tasting where we try out all the chateau he panned through the years and see if he was wrong there too. I know I never bothered to try a bunch of classified chateau — Dufort Vivens, Ferriere, Desmirail, Marquis d'Alesme Becker, Dauzac, Pedesclaux, Pouget, Croizet Bages, etc. — mainly because they never got any Parker love.

Re: BAMA
That would indeed be fun! Some of these estates may have changed ownership or brought in a Rollando. We’d need to check, first.Blanquito wrote:This has me thinking we should organize a ‘Parker Pisser’ tasting where we try out all the chateau he panned through the years and see if he was wrong there too. Ironically, Parker has always been a fan of Sociando.
Re: BAMA
Yes, Parker’s long support for Sociando was always a surprise and made me give him the benefit of the doubt at times (more than he deserved in retrospective). For my tastes, he chronically underrated many great Right Bankers — Magdelaine, Canon, Figeac — that have much more in common with Sociando than Rolland’s handiwork.
Re: BAMA
I just read a really, really compelling overview of this Chateau by Neal Martin in Vinous. Neal Martin only had his first experience with this Chateau in 2017... Man, I’m sorely tempted to load up on this and I’ve never even tried it yet!
Re: BAMA
In the US market it was hard at times to find the AFWE wines. Importers didn't want to commit/risk getting stuck on pallets of unsalable 87 pt wines.
Which reminds me, timmc suggested a BDX specialist shop in Paris when I was there, and I popped in to get a bottle - specifically asking for something that was unlikely to ever have been in the US. So the owner hooked me up with some 1990 AFWE Pessac I didn't know whose owner Parker hated. So next time we get together and pull this tasting off, I'll at least throw that in the pot! I can't remember the name, its not Bouscat but somehow affiliated with them.
AFWE wines usually though don't show well among big panels, like a UGC type of thing.

I’ve only had a small taste at a wine dinner when a friend brought what I am feeling was not a representative btl of the 1995 as it did nothing for me so I will need to revisit this property before some of these guys clean Chambers out
Re: BAMA
All of those wines, I’ve heard (well, have heard Alfert complain about at least) have gone towards dark side. Any recent feedback on Canon and Figeac and SM?Blanquito wrote:Yes, Parker’s long support for Sociando was always a surprise and made me give him the benefit of the doubt at times (more than he deserved in retrospective).
