- 2004 Château Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc - France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan (9/13/2009)
this is much better than the first bottle 2 yrs ago
pale yellow, bright fresh nose, lots of fruit, refreshing, mellon and peach really showed through just the right wine to watch the sun set in the NC mountains (92 pts.) - 2001 Alois Kracher Chardonnay TBA #7 Nouvelle Vague - Austria, Burgenland, Neusiedlersee (9/13/2009)
loads of sweetness and honey flavors , a fun wine but I feel like i could scoop out and eat with a spoon, dark amber color, (89 pts.)

Nice notes, Rick; brief but very informative.
I like SHL blanc as an excellent clean white Graves at less than terrifying prices.
I've never warmed up to the Kracher TBA lineup. Way too sweet without the fruit acid to back it up. Give me a good Sauternes any time.

Sauternes I can drink everyday, but Kracher provides a change of pace for times when I am feeling wild and boisterous.

I too have found the Kracher's to be a bit too sweet for me. When I venture outside Sauternes for a sweet wine, it is more often to Germany or the Loire.
What is happening with the Kracher lineup since his passing?

I too prefer Sauternes
a couple of the Krachers I picked up the # 2 and #12 are really exciting the others are worth the 19.99 blow out sale but not everyday drinkers
They are fun to open for people who are not use to fine wines
