Right, Patrick; I have more bottles from St Innocent than from any other producer. By far.

I have only 5-6 cases of Ridge; all Zins or Zin blends. From the rest of CA I have maybe two cases.

3 x 2016 Chateau Bourgneuf (read many good things about that one!)

Some other single bottle of white italian (Frescobaldi Toscana, some whit from Sicilia), white french (Domaine la Ragotiere Chardonnay from Loire, Hugel Riesling), and some reds (Montelli Chianti, Rubesco red, a Douro and Chinon Gabares from Nicolas Grosbois). All little wines to stay desinfeçted during the quarantine!

With the buying moratorium suspended like Bloomberg’s campaign (I was way ahead of the curve on that one, buying weeks ago in anticipation), I’ve won the following pristine-looking bottles recently on auction:
-1982 Talbot, 3 bottles, $173 each all-in
-1990 Louviere rouge, 3 bottles, $65 each all-in
-1989 Brunel Les Cailloux Chateauneuf, 2 bottles, $52 each all-in
-1992 Domaine Belle Hermitage, 2 bottles, $53 each all-in

Good prices given the provenance, very few bidders, I got them basically for the reserve price, are priced starting to break?

Winebid WAS awesome most of 2018 and 2019(if you knew how to game it), it has been going nuts with everyone sitting at home and jacking up prices on sunday nights now though!

CV, my problem with winebid was that they agreed to store my wine indefinitely without charge and this went on for several years. They changed the policy they had with me without proper notification and applied it to purchases I made before getting their notification of the change of policy for me. When I protested, they stood firm. The total disputed amount was almost nothing; something less than $5, IIRC; but I do not want to do business with a company that acts as they do.

Very observant, CV. I used to buy most of my wine on Winebid, for years and years, but after they jacked up their premium, raised their reserve prices, and started charging Colorado residents sales tax (they have a business license in Colorado as well as California for a tiny foothold they have in Aspen), the prices have become less and less attractive. And more recently, it seems to me like their pickings are really slim as well, though that will likely change if we go into a recession.

So, I've only bought 2 bottles from them in 2020, and those were to fill out a 12 pack left over from 2019. But this has been the trend for a while on Winebid as the wine market has gotten increasingly silly, here's how many bottles I've bought there in recent years:

Been the official end to the Great BWE 2020 Buying Moratorium (we have to do our part to support the global economy, after all) and too much time with little to do except cook and drink great wine, I have put 20 some bids out on lots at various auction sites right now. I am sure to lose many of these bids, but even still at this rate I will be in sore need of a Great BWE Buying Moratorium in 2021!

Just won three bottles of the 2011 Robert Chevillon Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru Les Vaucrains for $70 each.

Hope you guys were right about this producer! Gilman also gave this wine high marks, 95 pts worth.

Comte, let us know when you try one of the Gourt de Mautens. I opened a 2013 not so long ago and found it just under fabulous. Great complexity and balance for so much grenache. Good core of fruit and body and structure, no real weaknesses.

For my part, bought lately some:

2018 Chateau Bonnet
2016 Tenuta di Renieri Chianti Classico

Important to note, these are now the only 7 magnums in my 1000 bottle collection, and i have never had 2 either of these burgs, from either vintage.

looks like i won't be drinking them at all, since zachy's failed to mention anything anywhere about 25% tariffs on them coming from HK.. thought a few of my deals felt too good to be true.. looks like i will cancel the order. oh well, i have plenty of wine. Hope to drink with you again soon!

Court de Mautens, 2007

Jérôme Bressy, Vaucluse

Meaty, Beaty, Big and Bouncy: full of Mediterranean sunshine, and a thrill and a delight. It is neither Nadia Comaneci (Montreal 1976) nor the Olympic ice figure skating champion, which prevents it from being great, but a lot of fun to drink.

Reminded me of the first wine I drank after my seven week fast: the wonderful Bois De Boursan Cuvee Felix, 2001, which the Mautens could not quite match, but that was a high bar indeed. The Mautens has plenty of time in hand but is drinking very well.
