The 2015 Meyney is a blend of 52% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Petit Verdot. Upon opening the nose was expressive with earth, berries, and sandalwood. Later there was an slight herbal component. The wine was well balance with tannins, acid, and fruit. The tannin are roundish and far from rustic, still there is a good dose of tannins. There was a mild drying component on the finish which I attribute to oak, but the oak was not pronounced in the favor profile. This is not a high acid wine. The body was medium minus to start but blossomed to medium plus by the end of the night. Good concentration.
On the palate there was earth, maybe a touch of coffee, cassis. Nice complexity. Good finish on the medium plus side. I agree this wine is more finesse than power. Perhaps that is a result of the rain in the north medoc during harvest. Still this is nice wine but young. Enjoyable now but should have a good cellar life.

Nice.
Re: 2015 Meyney
Seems a very interesting Meyney. The 2014 is a small beast. Interesting to see that the warm vintage 2015 look likes less beasty.
I'm always impressed by the merlot proportion in the Saint Estèphe wines.

Re: 2015 Meyney
I was just gonna say, I wonder how the merlot percent in 2015 compares with other Meyney vintages like 14 and 16.
Re: 2015 Meyney
I hope they can get back to the fine form they had back in the 80's.
