2016 J Denuzière Cornas

Quiet evening with MC, and a flat steak. Some shitake mushrooms to make it a bit more worthy. And the 2016 J Denuziere Cornas.

That wine is just another that makes me figure out why i love that much the Syrah from that area. Medium dark red. Nose is very northern Rhône but without the very black character. But it is full darkberries, ligth spices and flowers, concentrated redberries, creamy cherries, and something meaty. The mouth is all that you hope from a nice Syrah, with some black pepper cherry and darkberry flavors. The wine has also that complex meat, smoke, oak, ashes, all integrated with fruit. Good acidity from that 2016 vintage, slightly aerial too, but long anyhow with fruity woody tasty tannins. With a bit more power or blacker fruit, it would pass the 93 rating, but impressive enough to get to an impressive assessment. Tn: 92.
