TN 2011 Latour à Pomerol
TN 2011 Latour à Pomerol
With a pan sauteed sirloin steak, roasted potatoes and a green salad; dark inky color, earthy smell along with some red fruit and violets, on the palate it is coarse, dusty, with decent fruit. Because of the dark color, I expected something more ripe. The wine has nothing modern or over-extracted and will appeal to the AFWE crowd, it has good depth and a tart finish. 89. Don't expect much improvement and a good wine for a midweek dinner. Just too expensive for what it delivers.

Interestingly the Magdelaine 2011, also from the Moueix stable is very good.
Re: TN 2011 Latour à Pomerol
It is difficult to procure any vintage of Latour a Pomerol for less than $100, and the premium for VG vintages is small. I am inclined to buy 2009 if I come across it, although I have not tasted the 2009.

I have limited experience with Latour à Pomerol (2 or 3 vintages), but i think and have the feeling that it is made in a way you need to wait a lot that wine.
I brought a 1970 at BWE 2017 in San Francisco and it was at the end of it plateau, but was sound and excellent. The 2000 was excellent, but needed 10 more years easily, when I had it.

I scored a few of these on a clearance sale for literally $20. While 2011 is what it is, worth a flyer as there are some serious standouts in Pomerol, like VCC. Magdelaine is great, too.

Yes an old fashioned wine that can be frustrating...and amazing...the 2001 that Tim brought to Islington was amazing as was the 1995 we tried in November of last year. I have a lot of love for this estate even though it can break your heart.

I almost never see this on the shelf anywhere. Does it only get sold via EP or mail order?
I remember in a different era one could actually buy it on a walk up basis.

I also remember buying a case of the 1998 at Zachys. That was almost two decades ago. This lone bottle appeared in my wine store in Tel Aviv a few years ago for about $100.
