Cash is trash.
Re: So what have you bought lately?
1. Terra Rouge Sentinel Oak Syrah 2013.
2. Terra Rouge Sentinel Oak Syrah 2005.
Terra Rouge is an Amador Wine just up the hill from Sacramento. The owner and vintner is Bill Easton who is one of California's original Rhone Rangers. His winery (IMO) is one of the two best in the Gold Country the other being Turley. Linda and I went on a short road trip yesterday, the first one after our final vaccination and the first one in over a year.
Bill Easton's other label is Easton which does all other non-Rhone grapes. He makes a tasty Zin but I usually stick with his Syrah.

I used to sell these wines and have visited the winery too. Count me as a fan.William P wrote: ↑Tue Mar 23, 2021 5:24 pm 1. Terra Rouge Sentinel Oak Syrah 2013.

Did you visit Vino Noceto which is nearby? Excellent Sangiovese. Glad you are getting out some.

The L-B for sure. The P-L does not have a high reputation, but I wanted my kids to try a Bdx from this period. I don't recall ever having drunk the '55 P-L.

Re: So what have you bought lately?
Isn’t ‘55 a birthyear for one of “us”?
Re: So what have you bought lately?
P.S. I didn’t buy any wine today. And I feel fine.

Fake news. The day is not over yet.

I didn’t buy any wine today too but I don’t feel fine as I tried to buy some mature Bdx’s but was too slow and ultimately missed out.

I’ll be curious to hear how it compares to the 2015 Chris.

Re: So what have you bought lately?
Chris, have you tasted any of that 2016 previously? I'd be interested in any experiences with this wine because I've been thinking about purchasing some.

1982 Chateau Magdelaine
Re: So what have you bought lately?
I had a bottle at the early March BWE Zoom meeting, and it left me a neutral feeling. This is what I wrote "The 2016 Chateau Larose-Trintaudon was ok only. Mid weight, maybe a little bit closed, red and black fruits with touch of spices. "Racer Chris wrote: ↑Fri Mar 26, 2021 11:58 am A case of 2016 Larose-Trintaudon. $18.75/bottle includes shipping.
It was good but a bit diluted for a Haut-Médoc. For a lower price, I prefer the 2016 Chateau d'Argadens.

I've loved the 2015 Larose-Trintaudon, to me it is a real true to form Haut Medoc, and I would think the 2016 would be even better, but who knows.

You guys are beasts.
Re: So what have you bought lately?
I brought one of those to a BWE confab once. Those bottle shapes were the craziest outside of Traviglini or Pere Anselme.OrlandoRobert wrote: ↑Fri Mar 26, 2021 6:34 pm Also grabbed some 1970 Talbot in 375. Love the old Cordier wines!

Re: So what have you bought lately?
A six pack of Magdelaine 1998. I cannot think of a better bargain than this.
Re: So what have you bought lately?
Soon, BWEers will possess 50 % of all Chateau Magdelaine left (concentrated mostly in 3 or 4 cellars).Musigny 151 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 27, 2021 11:37 am A six pack of Magdelaine 1998. I cannot think of a better bargain than this.
Jal should add a question for those who wants to become member of this community :
As a "red wine of Bordeaux enthusiast", do you eather possess a bottle of Chateau Sociando Mallet and/or Chateau Magdelaine and/or 1989 Chateau Lynch Bages? If not, have you ever bashed Chateau Grand-Puy Lacoste publicly? If not, BWE is not for you. We recommend you to join Michel Rolland community on Facebook (many pictures of his wines or fans with him), or the americain well known wine magazine board, or the ">95 pts wines only with JS".

Re: So what have you bought lately?
6 2014 Henri Gouges NSG Les Chaignots @ $60,
because last week my doctor, while we were discussing whether I should have a PSA test, advised me to buy more and younger wine.

5 2004 La Lagune $236.25
Thanks, Patrick, for pointing out that this is a good wine for me to buy to give to people that I detest. They'll see that this horrible swill is a 3rd growth and assume that there is something wrong with them when they think that the taste is awful.

Re: So what have you bought lately?
Stefan, get serious and bet on red Bourgogne instead. Or 16 % alcohol Chateauneuf du Pape, they're so fresh!stefan wrote: ↑Sat Apr 03, 2021 8:52 pm 5 2004 La Lagune $236.25

Seriously 47$ a bottle of 2004 La Lagune? Good pick.
