I like this wine a lot. It is much more forward than the '07 Vieux Telegraphe, but I'm assuming that's the case every year. It is 15% alcohol and the first few sips were hot but the wine settled down into a beautiful, balanced, spicy, classy effort featuring lots of pepper and spice, ripe raspberries, and just the perfect hint of earthiness to give it a very interesting character. Medium bodied, lovely deep ruby color. Very smooth and easy on the palate. Bravo! It's not cheap, I bought four bottles at $49 apiece, but this wine is getting harder and harder to find on the shelves of U.S. retailers. (94 pts.)

There are very few 2007 CDP showing up here in Ontario so far but prices are high. Vieux Telegraphe is $85 and Beaucastel $90. The 2006 versions $15 less. Are these guys that great that I need them for future enjoyment or do I pass?

I will not pay $110 for the Beaucastel........so i have not tried it
but I do believe the 07 VT is worth the $55 - 70 it has been in Chicago
