A few impulse buys this last weekend. My days of large procurements are over but I still like to have a few of the 2016s for later consumption.

Bill

2016 Amiral de Bechevelle
2016 Chasse Spleen
2016 Cantemerle.

2004 Vieux Chateau Certan, Pomerol.

One of the wines of the vintage, IMHO.

Plus a bottle of 2001 Chateau Montrose.

B21 in Tampa.

Mission accomplished. A case of wine purchased at each of two (Hampton N & Hampton S) New Hampshire Liquor stores this weekend.
Not only that, Mary accompanied me in the store and said practically nothing negative the whole time. :)

2 NV Billecart-Salmon Champagne Brut Réserve
2 2016 Château Cantemerle
2 2016 Château Fourcas Dupré
2 2016 Château Labégorce
3 2015 Château Lalande
2 2016 Château Lanessan
3 2016 Château Lilian Ladouys
1 2016 Le Marquis de Calon Ségur
4 2016 Château Meyney
2 NV Pol Roger Champagne Brut Réserve
1 2016 Château Talbot
1 NV La Marca Prosecco

I think I'll go into buying moratorium status for the rest of February.

Nice, astute purchases. Some great QPRs in there and some of my favourites.

I've had a few Château Fourcas Dupré and have always enjoyed them. Great to also see another fan of the Le Marquis de Calon Ségur as well - this is a great wine flying under the radar IMO.

I've had the Cantemerle, Lalande, Lanessan and Meyney and thought they were all nice qpr's. Good purchase.

I feel fine Jim, but a brief discussion with my Cardio MD indicated after two ablations, the last taking 4 hours, I'm am still defective. Chalk it up to fate.

I now have a case each of the '15 and '16 FD. At around $18 it has excellent QPR. I had never heard of it until it showed up at my local Total Wine in 2017.
I already drank the Le Marquis. It was my first and only one. The first night it was a bit sharp and the oak was obvious. The rest of the bottle on night two was great. I will definitely buy more if I find it at favorable pricing.

The only wine on my buying list last week that I didn't see in the stores was the '16 Sociando Mallet. The '15 Ch. Lalande was a surprise that I wasn't expecting to see - and they made a mistake at checkout (I didn't notice until I entered my purchases in CT) so I got them at a heavy discount.

Picked up some Chateau Petit Gravet Aine 2016, which admittedly is more glossy than I normally go, I do like the heavy Cab Franc cut at 80%. It’s like a poor man’s Les Carmes Haut Brion. I have that estate’s 2016 as well.

That's a long time to lay there while they're fiddlin' with your ticker. Glad you're feeling well Bill.
And who the hell is perfect anyway? I can think of one who thinks he's perfect, but there's another thread dedicated to why he's not.

I think I tried some of their 96's around age 4 or 5. I suspect they have better control of their tannins nowadays though.

They do reward cellaring IMO. I had the 2009 a few months ago and it was in a great window and drinking beautifully. The 2010 consumed about the same period needed more time in the cellar.

I've just gone on a Saint Pierre splurge:

2 x Saint Pierre 2018
2 x Saint Pierre 2012 &
1 x Saint Pierre 2011

Good one David. BTW my wife thought the same thing since the projected time for the procedure was two hours. I am seeing the cardiac electrophysiologist tomorrow, so I'll have a better idea of his findings.

Sometimes your time in far exceeds any estimate. Lucie had cataract surgery last fall. The first eye kept her in more than six hours. Her mistake was having the procedure done at the hospital. That drove up both the time and the cost. I'll not make the same mistake.

I'm 61 now. I've enjoyed myself, kept myself entertained my entire life, since I was like two years old.
I can honestly say that my happiness quotient has never been higher.
But... if I'm 80 with dementia, please... send a BWE strike force in, feed me some whoopie pie and '89 Lynch, and then... please... you think I'm joking, I'm not... please!... smother me with my pillow until I stop breathing....

Was browsing the TW in Norwalk CT site just to see how atrocious the Bdx pricing has become and found some recently listed 2016 Isole e Olena Chianti Classico @ $22.49/btl and Cepparello @ $59.99/btl and stuck 4 btls of each in my cart and checked out. I am guessing that they will have more when I go to pick up next week as I have noticed that they have a tendency to limit the quantities on some wines they post to the site. Also picked up a case of the 2017 Francois Cotat Les Culs de Beaujeu @ $44.99/btl and their last 5 btls of the 2017 Lauer Ayler Kupp Kabinett Fass 8 @ $19.95/btl during Crush’s 2 day progressive winter sale as I am not looking forward to seeing the post tariff rates on these kinds of wines.

What if we have an unlimited supply of Lynch Bages and Whoopie Pies? Would you live to a 100?

You would live until the supply of Lynch Bages and whoopee pies was exhausted.
In other words, a recipe for immortality! (But it might have to be 1989 Lynch Bages)

Allocation allowed to me from last offer on limited products.

2 2016 Cote Rotie Jamet
2 2016 NSG 1er Porets Saint Georges Gouges

Not a big allocation but I'm happy anyway.

3 x 2006 Chateau Sociando Mallett Cuvee Jean Gautreau

1 x 2015 Chateau Figeac
1 x 2016 Chave Hermitage
2 x 2016 Produttori dal Barbaresco
4 x Billecart-Salmon rouge

Wine Conn in CA has two bottles left of the JG cuvee at $70. I grabbed three.

The remainder of the wines were from Wine.com taking advantage of those $100 of $300 coupons. Like crack.

Yes, 2014 is one of those stealthy vintages. Overshadowed by 2015 and 2016. But a lot of excellent wines, and at prices that haven’t been driven up by "triple 100 point scores" from the critics. My last Bordeaux purchase before my 2020 moratorium was 2014 Sociando.

While I have been in a semi try not to blow money on wine phase, at $200 per full btl of Yquem and coming from a classic Sauternes vintage does not come around very often so I caved and pulled the proverbial trigger on a case purchase of the 2005 Chateau d’Yquem for $2399.76 all-in.

In my book, this not "caving in" but rather "avoiding being a complete idiot".

All recently won at KL auctions (except the Taluau which was on close out):

3 of the 82 Dominique
6 of the 89 Taluau Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil Vieilles Vignes
3 of the 90 Les Caillloux Brunel Chateauneuf
3 of the 93 Dalle Valle Cabernet
3 of the 95 Dalle Valle Cabernet
2 of the 95 Rampolla Sammarco
1 each of the 03, 04 and 05 Forman Cabernet

As much as I am excited to have each of these wines, this is still a Total Fail.
