I think Mark and I have similar views when it comes to the wines of Chateau Palmer and when the tariff is sub $200/per btl you buy provided that it is not putting you into debt.

Looks like underboard to me, Jacques. Nice wines, though.

I would be posting if I were willing to bid more than retail. I have yet to buy a bottle this year despite committing thousands of $$$ in auctions. At this rate I am in danger of dying before my wine supply is gone, at least if my doctors are correct when they say that I should live until I am 90.

Correction: I actually did win one auction--4 bottles of 2009 Lagrange. for $286.65.

I got inspired by that 1988 La Tour Blanche, Stefan ;)
And then I just couldn't stop...

Sounds great Jacques. 1988 La Tour Blanche is excellent and 1988 Climens is even better. Both are in the zone now if bottles have been well stored.

Jal,

Looks like a village wine, but never heard of the producer Domaine Vaudoisey. Is the producer new? :?:

I had an '82 La Lagune recently from my cellar. It did not age well, we dumped most of it. Maybe it was a bad bottle. I hope yours are better

If I remember correctly, I think that one was corked sadly. But the 82 Branaire was quite a treat!

LOL, visualizing a Salmanazar of EVOO. We go through a fair amount of the stuff too.

How long is EVOO good if unopened? Once opened?

Coravin for EVOO so the Salmanazar will last a whole year. :D
I think Nola claims hers will last 4 years if kept cool and dark.
An open 500ml bottle won't last more than a month in my house, but I'm sure it would keep in the cupboard for a few months.
I loved the 2021, and the bottle I just opened seems as fresh as the first one last summer, so I bought more of that rather than wait for the new vintage.

3 bottles of the 2017 Produttori del Barbaresco, Barbaresco.

1 bottle of the 2020 Domaine Gueguen, Bourgogne Côte Saline.

The Barbaresco has been identified as one of the Decanter magazine "Wine of the year".

So this is a first time Dressner / Bowler import for this Olga Raffault cuvee which comes from the oldest plots of Les Picasses, sees wood and just so happens to be from the classic 2014 vintage that I have absolutely fallen in love with. I ended up ordering all of the 30 6packs that came in on the initial shipment. C’est la vie en Chinon ou quelque chose comme ca ;)

is that for your self, or your store? i mean what do you do with that much of the same bottling

as much as i love certain wines, i would not want to drink the same thing 180 times.

Jc, this is intense, lot of love for Chinon and Raffault. Being your partner, i would feel weird.

Orlando YbboB looks like a Chinon small dragonfly, you look like the superb toad that will lick it!

Party at JC’s!

Have you had the Singulaire next to a Picasses of the same vintage? Curious how they compare.

I’m sure if you decide you don’t need 30 6-packs, a few of us here would be happy to ease your burden LOL.

Arv, I bought it with consignment sale proceeds so it kind of feels like they were free. Not sure how this will play out but I have more of this wine than any other wine in the cellar and Olga Raffault now comfortably ranks as the top producer in my cellar which I have zero problems with.
Nick, while Ceil might feel like I went a little overboard, she is luckily beginning to enjoy the Chinon profile as well ;)
David, have not done a side by side as of yet as prior to this the La Singuliere only came in gray through Lyle Fass and only tasted the 2010 which I enjoyed. Popping a btl tonight and if I like, there is another 50 6packs incoming within the next shipment expected in 4-8 weeks so decisions, decisions, decisions.

I snagged 3 more of 2014 La Conseillante this morning. TW announced a 15% off sale so I bought 3 bottles of 2018 Lanessan @ $21.23, 1x 2012 Le Petit Haut Lafitte, 1x 2016 Sirene de Giscours @ $33.98, and the Pomerol for $101.98.

I believe there are 2 bottles left in the Manchester store.

I've been lurking for a couple months now and recently decided to join. I've been learning quite a bit from you all, but as I decided a little late in life to start cellaring wine, I guess I'm planning for retirement now :).

I assume it's typical to burn cash to backfill earlier vintages to drink over the next several years while also figuring out what to buy to enjoy down the line. So my credit card is on fire right now

I'm mostly focusing on Bordeaux, Tuscany/Piedmont, and also enjoy Tempranillo and Beaujolais.

Back to the topic at hand... here's today's haul.

1 x 2009 Château Lanessan $50 - hoping this wasn't a bad move, but some of you indicated that pre-2014 are quite good. :)
4 x 2012 Dom Pérignon (was on sale thru 1/31 at Gary's in NJ for $180)
dom.jpeg
Also picked up over the weekend:
A "daily" drinker:
7 x 2019 Chateau Thivin Côte de Brouilly $25

A couple lower cost Bordeaux's for the future:
6 x 2016 Chateau Cantemerle Haut Medoc $33
6 x 2018 Château Gloria Saint Julien $42

and:
6 x 2011 La Rioja Alta Gran Reserva 904 $55
6 x 2015 Casanova di Neri Brunello di Montalcino $54

2 2010 Chehalem Ridgecrest Reserve Ribbon Ridge PN @ $37
4 2019 Walter Scott "Cuvée Anne" Eola-Amity Hills Chardonnay @ $40

I lucked into the last two bottles of the Chehalem 2010. My supply of 2010 OR PN is depleted.

I never tried a Walter Scott Chardonnay. The critics' descriptions suggest that I will not like it. However, it is considered to be very good for its style, so I decided to buy a few to try. Lucie can cook with the 3rd and 4th bottles if we dislike the wine after giving it a fair shot.
