1992 Togni at $192/bottle
2015 Tertre Roteboeuf at $139/bottle

Realize the 2015 TR goes against my anti-alcohol religion but I think Francois Mitjavile handles rich wine in a very interesting and authentic way. I’ve liked all the TRs I’ve tried and although the alcohol can be touch difficult for me physically they are delicious wines. Not sure if 2015 will take him over the edge, I will report back to the group

Also, speaking of high alcohol wines, also picked up some 2003 Fonseca and Taylor vintage ports for $45/bottle (full bottle). Those prices for top aged vintage ports make me want to dabble in them…not many best in class aged wines available for under $50 a bottle. Always nice to have a few bottles of port around during the winter holidays

Flickinger has the brilliant 2008 Haut Bailly for $690 a six pack. I have loaded up on this wine, otherwise would be all over this.

After realizing that most of the wines I drink are Bordeaux and that it is time to challenge that a bit I ordered the following, which I received yesterday.
Just 2 out of 12 being from Bordeaux. Especially looking for wines that will function (better than Bordeaux) during the summer.

Domaine Reverdy-Ducroux Sancerre Rouge Beau Regard 2018
Olga Raffault Chinon Les Peuilles 2018
Olga Raffault Chinon Les Picasses 2016
Ermitage Du Pic St. Loup Tour De Pierres Rouge 2018
Ermitage Du Pic St. Loup Coteaux Du Languedoc Cuvee St. Agnes 2019
Chateau Senejac Haut Medoc 2018
Chateau Lilian Ladouys St. Estephe 2018
Escudo Rojo Syrah Reserva 2019
Casa Lapostolle Cabernet Sauvignon Cuvee Alexandre 2019
Beringer Cabernet Sauvignon Knights Valley 2018
Barone Ricasoli Chianti Classico Riserva Brolio 2018
Felsina Chianti Classico Berardenga 2019

I also hit the 15 percent cashback today on WDC from RMN. Had a couple referral coupons and a $10 off from Amex to stack. Can't beat it.

Couple west coast pinots and a 2018 Rauzan Segla.

I nabbed one of those recently myself. They are in California for the time being. I also got an 88 which I remember enjoying at BWE 2020.

Maybe a zoom call if I get them sent to DC, or a tasting on the west coast with them sometime.

I had a good day out at the auction today but my naive hopes of raising money soon turned into smoke.

I sold nine lots including six bottles of that serial failure Sociando Mallet 1996 and the dreary insipid Canon 04 (two bottles) and various other things, including six bottle lots of Barthod 99 Chambolle 1er Cru Veroilles and various other Italian and new world bits and bobs.

It was was going well on the buy side initially. I missed out on the 1988 Lynch. I bid £110 and it went for £120…but then I got a nice five bottle lot of Mouton Baron Philippe 1986 for £240…Mouton Jr.?/ D’Armailhac?…the 83s I bought of these were amazing…some low priced Ch. Nenin @ £200/6/…then a couple of super cheap lots of 1999/2000 Glatenay Volnays…but then I bid and won on some 2004 Chave Hermitage (x6) and the 2005 (x2) - which were absolutely sensational a few weeks ago.

So my sales totalled £2990 and my purchases totalled £2990 by sheer dint of random fluke, but after the 15% gross commission I will have to fork out 15% of three grand. Ah well. It was a lot of fun, and am thrilled to have landed some Chaves. They really are the pinnacle of Northern Rhône and I had pretty much given up on the idea of acquiring anymore until today.

Nice haul Ian,
What year the Nenin? I think the only memorable ones I've had were the 1998 and the 2000 and if it's one of those years, its a super price!

I feel both your pleasure and pain, sir.

I recently sold off about $1700 worth of Cali cabs that I didn't want that much (except for the 85 Dunn Howell, but I sold it for a good price at $350).

Proceeded to basically directly trade those with a friend for a bunch of great champs at better value pricing than I sold my cabs. Hightlights were:

1x 2008 Jacquesson Champs cain
2x 2007 Taittinger Comtes
2x 2012 Hebrart Special
2x 2012 Hebrart Rive
1x 2006 Paul Bara Annoncionade
1x 2002 Billecart Cuvee NF
2x 2006 Billecart Cuvee NF
2x 2008 Guy Larmandier Signe Francois

So much for cash in my pocket. But worth it.

That must have been their estate St Joe...I've had the bought in 'Offerus' in a number of theoretically good NoRho vintages and it just doesn't seem to have the reputed Chave magic...

Congrats on landing that Chave, Comte.

Need Blanquito to come back and reinstitute the buying freeze. Although I'm pretty sure he last minute sniped me on 2 bottles of 1985 PLL today :)

I'll survive. Put the money to other good use:

2008 Piper Rare- 125
2014 Pontet Canet- 70

1996 Gruaud- 147
1989 Gruaud (1.5L)- 398
(Garagiste has both of these right now, direct from the source)

Sounds like we might need to do an 83 Gruaud Zoom sometime. I know Bill and I both have bottles coming in at some point. I also just acquired some 89 and 96. I enjoyed the 86, 88 and 90 in the recent past for sure.

Glad you guys had such a great weekend!

I’m cutting back on purchases, no more room in cellar, but I had to take advantage of the RMN 30% cash back and coupons on WDC. Cherry picked:
2010 Branon
2016 Montrose
2009 Pichon Baron
And got an offer for some 1996 and 2005 BAMA and
Some Dehours Oeil de Perdrix Rose Champ

Trying to decide to get a 2014 Latour or not

Looks like you did pretty well in the auction, Joel. Let's consult next time we might be competing against each other. Usually I am not looking for anything in particular but just trying to get a reasonable selection of Bordeaux for our houses in Oregon. It is problematic for me to transfer wines from Texas to there. (Or maybe this is just an excuse for my buying more wine.)
