Including buyer’s premium?

Average price on Wine Searcher USA: $533. Ouch.

But the low price is $400, and WineSearcher says that one place that has it at that price is in New England. Time to take your new car out for a spin!

Oh? I need to get the prime Winesearcher deal.
MichaelP just picked up the bottle I just purchased at K&L for $395 + CA taxes, he's bringing it to London for the big Saturday night dinner.
I have ONE bottle of 1989 Lynch left, I'm hard pressed to see myself buying more, I'll drink this last bottle on the day I die.

Jim, when we eventually get to share a bottle together it will include a 89'LB.

Sound like a good plan, Gerry, and I'll bring something great from the cellar.
We need to get together with one or two other New England BWEers.

My bottle just sold at K&L for $330. https://www.klwines.com/Auction/Bidding ... ku=1666350

So maybe the market is not as high as our BD thinks?

Someone must have heard that the 1983 almost edged it out in London a couple days ago. We move markets, baby.

This was my master plan, Jim. I just pretend to like other vintages of Lynch better.

Up to $657 on Wine Searcher, now that it has been about a week since the London vertical results have baked into the market.

Wine Searcher listings show Lynch Bages available at retail for $390 and on up right now in the US, and that’s without a Pro subscription.

Auction hammer prices are typically lower than retail due to buyer’s commissions. The WMJ auction prices visible via CellarTracker show a decline from $460 last March to $380 at the end of December. If MichaelP’s bottle just hammered at $330 it suggests further erosion, but hard to tell from sale of a single bottle.

Jim, you may want to take advantage of this buying opportunity. Buy, buy like the wind!

Not trying to promote my sale on K&L but this lot also indicates a decline in prices for 89 and 90:

Prices listed in pending auctions mean nothing to me.
All I know is my own experience trying to buy 1989 Lynch these days, try to realistically buy it for under $500.
The 89/90 Lynch lot means nothing to me. 1990 is not 1989. Adding 1990 to 1989 diminishes the value of 1989, what is the strategy behind doing that?.

I’ve never bought from them before. Has anyone heard of Vintage Wines Ltd in San Diego?

Man after you factor in taxes and shipping you’re up over $450 easy. My days of buying 1989 Lynch are over. I have one bottle left in my cellar, which I will take with me to my grave.

I see a loophole here. Find some schmucks who don't understand the true value of the 1989 Lynch, that love the young ripe wines. Trade them said 2015 right banks. Such as Figeac or Canon. Boom. Obviously not straight up, but even if you have to go 3for2 or 2for1. Sounds like you would make out 10 fold.

But that's just what young Joel would do. That's essentially what I've done over the last year or so, selling off all of my parkerized Napa wines and right banks. Putting a most of it back into 80's Bordeaux, Champagne and Burgundy.

There was a time when Musigny151 wanted to trade a case of 2015 Canon for 1989 Lynch. Sigh.

David,

I have done business with them before, and as an SD native, I do visit the store to pickup something once in a while. It’s a mom and pop type of wine store, and they have good collection of wines for reasonable prices.

I presume 89 Lynch might not be ex-chateau (otherwise they would have mentioned), but if you want, I can check for you. Should you have any issues with your order, let me know, I can stop by the store and sort it out for you...

Thanks for the kind offer CV. Good to know it’s a reliable store. I am not in the market myself. I was really just trying to send a little enablement Jim’s way.
