TN: 2000 La Lagune
Re: TN: 2000 La Lagune
The entire 1982 vintage is the poster child for undermining the "can't make old bones" adage.
My take on La Lagune is that they generally don't up their game that much in the best vintages. Just go about their business., making excellent wine.

Jay,
Funny as I bought a case of 96 SM on indent, and opened one bottle as soon as it arrived.
It was excellent and I posted a note here in (I think) early 1999.
It was cool, long, elegant and classy.
The case is now all gone (I do have a few later vintages) and it drank well at any time.
At no stage was it ever a closed up, tannic monster or too shy to drink.
I have also managed to drink through all but a few of the 96's I bought and with a few exceptions I never regretted opening them early.

Re: TN: 2000 La Lagune
I drank another 2000 La Lagune while visiting my father and brother. Unlike the other bottles of this vintage I've had fairly recently, this one drank well with fruit and tannin well balanced. Nice length as well. So, is their bottle variation with this vintage? mr vino confused once again.

All of the 2000 LL we have drunk recently have been like this last one you had, Jay. My storage is warmer than yours; maybe yours are just now blooming.

I think you're right. This bottle in passive storage.stefan wrote:All of the 2000 LL we have drunk recently have been like this last one you had, Jay. My storage is warmer than yours; maybe yours are just now blooming.

I may turn my cellar temp up to 60 or 62.

Don't stop there, take it up to 65.
Re: TN: 2000 La Lagune
For older people with youngish winds 65 id good.
I keep whites, spatklers, and most 20+ year old reds at 55.

If I had youngish wind I wouldn’t be worried about my youngish wine.
Re: TN: 2000 La Lagune
I set my cellar temp to equal my age
I don’t plan to reach 90, so my wines should be OK.

Not a bad plan, Stuart, if you won't live past 68.
