I haven't been paying attention much here or elsewhere so pardon me if it's been noted that Paul Ryan bears a certain resemblance to Eddie Munster.

I also get Ron Paul, Rand Paul, RuPaul, Paul Ryan, and Ayn Rand confused.

Yes! That's IT! I was wondering where that hairline came from.... It's Eddie Munster!

Yes, Scott, the word is that 102-year-old Clint Eastwood will be the surprise guest tomorrow night, to energize the convention.

Remember that movie "Every Which Way But Loose?" I think my brothers annd I watched that movie about 30 times after we got HBO for the first time back in the 80s.

You know he ended up dating that blonde girl from the movie in real life, what was her name again, what ever happened to her?

Saw a Jeb Bush interview on ABC tonight. Man, I'm impressed with that guy every time I hear him speak.

Interesting. There were two Marilyns. Beverly Owen (1) and Pat Priest (2). I think we are thinking of Pat Priest. She was born in Bountiful, Utah. Guess she's voting for Romney then. Amazing how the circle closes upon itself.

Ah yes, Sondra Locke, she was a looker, I'm remembering her in that full-length outfit out in the parking lot when he realizes she was stringing him along, the big lug, in "Every Which Way But Loose."

Good grief is this guy boring!

I saw him on CSPAN a couple weeks ago, he was much more effective then....

My goodness, sporadic, weak applause.... Now, SILENCE in the auditorium....

This is just a partial clip:

Not a bad speech, but Palin's was better.
I can see how the base would like it, I don't know how much it will sway the middle.
Trying to put my finger on the problem:
Is he too young?
Is he too know it all?
He's not really that good looking, I would think the ladies would think the president is sexier.
Overall, I guess I'd give him a B, although I could see where Sean Hannity might give him an A.

I thought the ladies stole the show tonight, Condi Rice and the New Mexico governor.

We watched an episode of Breaking Bad in preference to viewing Condi but did catch much of the kid VP's speech. I thought his attack on Obama was pretty good. His joke about Mitt's taste in music was funny and useful for the humanization of the candidate. On the other hand, Ryan said nothing of substance on what Romney would do beyond repealing RomBamaCare and holding federal expenditures to 20% of GDP (with no explanation of how).

That Ryan looks to be around 22 and his wife 16 may not be a plus.

Mitt needs to give a great speech.

I think Ryan looks like a Boy Scout. I agree he effectively attacked Obama, he may move the polls a point or two for Romney with the undecideds, but I don't think his speech will have the same impact as Palin's did. Then again, I'm sure he'll survive those Katie Couric type interviews a lot better going forward. Palin's convention speech four years ago was politically brilliant, in both its content and delivery. It was what followed that helped to do in a campaign that was going to lose anyway.

Ryan minscontrued a lot of facts and Rice was never the SOS Clinton has been. Romney better deliver the speech of his life tonight or he won't get the usual post convention bump. Also, the difference in response to Isaac compares to Katrina is striking. Kudos to FEMA and the Obama administration-not that LA or the rest of the south will vote for him. Well, maybe VA and possibly FL though I'm doubtful.

Funny, have to tell you, I see a wide cross section of people in my work - all walks, all income levels, backgrounds, etc. Lots of people coming through today telling me never in their life did they hear such a lineup of fabulous speeches, one better than the next. Completely unscientific, of course, as I don't poll for political persuasion, but clearly they're hitting some target with this production, even if it's just hardcore base.

I just don't think education is an issue that gets the population riled up.
To me, it doesn't matter if you're pro union, or for vouchers, or charter schools, or home schooling....
It all comes back to family. If your parents push you and stay on top of your education and have you read, read, read, the kid will be more likely to succeed. When I went to Catholic grade school we had one nun teaching us 6 or 7 classes a day, with 45 kids in the classroom. And we had some of the most successful classmates.
Education is not about politicians.

That was a mediocre speech by Jeb, nothing special. I do like him though, he's a humble guy.

So far, the Republicans who have advanced their cause for 2016 if Obama is re-elected:

Paul Ryan
Condi Rice
The New Mexico Governor
Jeb Bush

Big losers so far:

Chris Christie
Rob Portman

Will young Marco seize the moment?
