2014 Cos d'Estournel

Uncorked and left open for about 4 hours in the cellar. I rarely point out "brooding fruit" but this was a great example.

My CT note:
Very aromatic on the nose with a spice I couldnt quite put my finger on, sweet wood or cream with plum and blackberry. Masculine. Deep and brooding fruit. Plum and dried fig with some menthol. Juicy acidity driving some pop on the back end. Tannins still quite dusty. Similar to some of the other notes it is hard to pin down all of the pieces and parts of this wine. What I know is that it is incredibly enjoyable. 96

Mmmm doggie, I’ve got 7 of these puppies in the cellar, thanks for the report Mike.

I saw your note on CT early this morning Mike.
It made me happy to know I have a few of them in my cellar too.

Very nice. Did you snag these for a song from wdc last year too? Glad I added a few more to my cellar. I’ll forever be in Jim’s debt for his ringing endorsement of the 2014 vintage

I have four bottles of this but have been sitting on them on the assumption that they would drink beer with at least 12-15 years of age on them. You found this was good now?

But of course! I have one more from that raid.

Wine.com - there are many opportunities to snag bordeaux at some pretty insane discounts. If you want to know how, JoelD or I could send you the process.

Well done sir. I’ve been cleaning out as many 2014 and 2016 Bordeaux as I can. Along with 2008 and 2012 champs.

Same strategy, 2016 Calon Segurs for avg around $90... 2016 Montrose sub 150..... impossible to pass on. The 2014 cos were $115.

I have to believe this will eventually end, so may as well hit it hard while we can!

I was actually able to get the 2014 Cos for sub 90 somehow last fall. Got some 2016 montrose. I went long on the calon on release at around that price. Nabbed a bunch of singles of 2014 bdx though. GPL, malescot, pontet, SHL, L’evangile and labegorce. Every 2014 Bordeaux I’ve tried has been wonderful. Thinking about loading up on some more Haut Bailly even though I have 5 already. May have to try one first.

Good info, though I wish I srill bought young bordeaux to capitalize on these deals Mike....I pretty much only buy 2005 and older these days... unfortunately, newer bordeaux just have not appealed to me as much.

I’ve been doing the same with 2014s and 2016s using WDC coupons, but only able to snag a few bottles at a time.
