Ah yes 78 was especially plagued by poor cross-Atlantic transport issues for that estate….

Seems like a nice La Lagune to me, with your short 2 words description.

I guess i have an idea why you opened that 1976...

Bad luck, what a pity.
70 an 82 performed as expected weeks ago.
Bad storage?

Ha ha “bad” means “good” when it comes to Stefan’s favorite estate, Ognik, lest more folks bid on them at auction and up the tariff.

90 was one of my first bordeaux encounters years ago. Love this estate.

I’m always happy for the opportunity to post the tasting of Stefan, Lucie, and the rest of us at La Lagune during our visit in 2015….

Jim,

Thanks for taking us back down memory lane. Great memories except for that 2013 LL which I'm happy to have experienced the wine and would be interested to revisit it one day to see if our impression was correct but it still makes me wince thinking about it at this time!

Is 1976 an underrated vintage? I had an incredible Petite Village last year which was btr than its '82 and '90 counterparts by a wide margin.

I had my wine epiphany in the early ‘80s with a bottle of 1976 Latour. I knew nothing about wine and found it - with a mismarked price - in a Paris restaurant. Mind blown.
Then, back home in NY, I had the ridiculous good luck of finding a few bottles of ‘76 Leoville Las Cases on sale, which cemented my early fandom of both Bordeaux and the ‘76 vintage. I haven’t had a ‘76 Bordeaux in a long time, though.

The best thing about 1976 Bordeaux that I can say is that it produced better wines than 1972, 1973, 1974, 1977, and maybe 1969.

La Lagune 2021 rating by The Wine Independent - 85-87p!

I personally rate it around 93p.

Neal gives it 89-91.

Since Robert Parker left the review scene, there have been a million reviewers and the ratings span in all directions.

That's not a bad thing. A more diverse ecosystem of reviewers means its more likely consumers can find someone whose palate they identify with.

I have La Lagune as a fifth growth, right behind Lynch.
