Sipping on a 2018 Chateau Siran....

Post by JimHow »

Omg is this sweet out of the gate, let's see (hope) it settles down!
14.5%, almost undrinkable at the outset. It's pure sugary candy.

Let me tell you something, Siran is the real deal.
This is a beautiful wine, I just knock off a couple points from the 93 point 2016 because of the overbearing alcohol.
But I attribute that to this pretty tough to take vintage.
Siran has arrived, my friends...
I don't know if I recommend the '18 because of the pervasive high alcohol, but keep an eye on this BWE-kind-of-estate.
It is a baby Chateau Margaux, very, very well made.
Rating: 91 points.

I found the 2015 to be very similar. Clearly a well made wine, but sweet and alcohol-y. Sounds like I need to try the 2016. And maybe the 2014, has anyone had that?

I’ve nailed a couple of 2018 Siran and agree Jim. A good wine but very much ‘of the vintage’. Saving my last couple of 16’s, missed the 15 unfortunately. Quite enjoyed an 18 Labegorce (and the 17) as well recently, trying to work out which of those two estates I prefer.

You can count me a fan
of Siran.
It looks like they upped their game beginning with the 2014 vintage.
I have a case of 2015 and only one bottle of 2016 remaining. I'll pass on the 2018 but will be on the lookout for a few 2019.

I drank a 2015 Siran and Labegorce just a few weeks ago. Quite different in style but about the same enjoyment level.
