Opened a 2018 Chateau Branaie Ducru last night. Yes i know, too young, infanticide, etc... but i really want to like the 2018... what i'm not until now.
The Branaire is also very "2018", with it's 14.5 % alcohol, that very thick wine, ripe and concentrated. Yes there is concentrated fruit (a bit extreme), chocolate, ripe dense, but this is not the Branaire I know. Again, another 2018 deception last night. No Tn.
Tonight, the 2017 Produtori del Barbaresco Barbaresco is way better. Nice color light red with slightly orange rim, nose of cherries, spices, cinnamon, light candy rasberries, violet flowers and red licorice. Mouth has a nice attack, supported by good acidity and lot of tannins. Lot of red berries and cherries fruit, sweet cinnamon cherry, light exotic balsamic wood, long and with a red licorice and mineral finish. Nice to drink, will age gracefully. Tn: 91.
Ok, i'll open my next 2018 in minimum 15 years and a Barbaresco

Agreed on the 2018, and agreed on the Produtori.
“Thick” on the 2018 is a very good descriptor.

Nicklasss
Well I am glad I passed on 2018 en primeur and moved to 2019.
A few St Emilions are a bit alcoholic though most of the wines so far have been well balanced and good fruit with freshness and length.
