So I went relatively deep on this wine in this vintage despite not getting a chance to taste it at the UGC as it is a non UGC property. Prior positive experiences with this wine and the hype surrounding 2015 Margaux made this decision easy. And surprise, surprise a short decant and this proved to be relatively approachable in its current state of early maturity. And I have no doubts that it is only going to get better in another Blanquito or 2 as the new oak will have more time to fully integrate while it picks up additional complexities.

2015 Chateau d’Issan [65% Cabernet Sauvignon / 35% Merlot, 13.5% ABV]; a wonderfully fragrant perfume of dark berries, florals, earth and tobacco scents that lead to a fresh, silky, palate staining blackberry profile that is framed by toasty oak which echo back on the long finish. 94+

Fantastic to hear!

I have a case of the 2015 that I’ve resisted opening but d’Issan always seems to overdeliver for the price point. One of my Margaux faves and can’t beat the QPR. I may just need to stop resisting the urge and open a bottle myself

Good to know. Always an understated wine that just seems to be at its best with food,

Great note jckba.

You're right. 2015 and Issan could just be a perfect match. I guess i don't have any Issan left, unfortunately.

Yes Issan is kind of forgotten Margaux, but always deliver the goods. Last one i had, the 2008, was quite good.

Good to hear this is making progress JC. In 2020 it was awkward and the 2014 showed better. Like the others I have a case. But there is plenty of other stuff to drink in the meantime.

A 2002 of RBI’s was excellent a couple of weeks ago, right in the sweet spot.

Sounds like a wine to look forward to drinking in my '70s.
I managed to snag three shortly after release for about $70. Probably not gonna open the first for at least another 5 years.

Nice note jckba, like others I’ve got a few sitting in the cellar but holding off cracking the wood open! We all know where that leads :P Looking forward to trying them in a blanquito. The 2000 was really good, so I have high hopes for this vintage.
