**We should have everything we need included. However if there is something else you would like then you will need to start your own tab as long as the restaurant will allow that.

We have the entire upstairs rouge room to ourselves with about 6-8 different tables. We are capped at 30 people and we are currently at 26 confirmed for this night. Before inviting anyone else not on the list, please check with me first directly via PM, text or email. Given the location and menu, the suggested theme to lean towards is Champagne, White Burgundy and Red Burgundy. However please bring anything you like. Many often bring wines from Loire, Rhone, Piedmont, Tuscany, Germany, Napa etc.

Saturday 10/29 at Bistro Bis (Hotel George), 6pm-10pm(Champagne and Bordeaux wines)

Total cost per person is $230
-Included (dinner, corkage, weekend room rental, glassware, tax, tip)
-Not included (alcoholic beverages, other drinks not listed, any other courses/orders)
**We should have everything we need included. However if there is something else you would like then you will need to start your own tab as long as the restaurant will allow that.

We will have the entire back/bottom section of the restaurant to ourselves, like last year's Friday dinner. I think we are capped at 32 people for this, but may be able to add more if needed. We are currently at 24-26 people. Additions for this night are still fine for now. We will have 4-6 large round tables that should accommodate us nicely. The general theme for the evening is quality Champagne and classic/aged Bordeaux. Some may bring wines from vintages ending in a 2 but the real theme is wines that are really in their sweet spot now. We'll have another thread for what everyone plans to bring so we can coordinate.

6pm-7pm- Starters

Cheese & Charcuterie- chef selections of cheese and charcuterie board

7pm-10pm- 3 course pre fixe dinner

Appetizers

Goat Cheese Tart rich chèvre egg in a crisp pastry shell with piquillo pepper coulis
Salad Panaché seasonal greens with shallots, chives & champagne vinaigrette
Lobster Bisque with brandy, crème fraîche & tarragon

Entrées **I will post this elsewhere but I will need everyone's entree order at least 10 days before the event**

-Risotto au Pistou eggplant, roasted summer squash, tomato confit, basil pesto, pecorino romano
-Atlantic Salmon with braised beluga lentils, vegetable mirepoix, celeri root purée & red wine bordelaise
-Chicken Romarin pan roasted breast, leg confit, sarladaise potato, broccolini, lemon, rosemary jus
-Rack of Lamb Provençale with dijon mustard herb crust, potato gratin, spinach & rosemary lamb jus
-Beef Bourguignon braised short rib in red wine, wild mushroom, bacon lardon, pearl onion, pommes mousseline
-Steak Frites watercress, red wine shallot butter, pommes frites

Sides
Parker House Rolls served warm, herb butter, maldon salt
Ratatouille Niçoise zucchini, eggplant, tomato, olive

Dessert

Crème Brûlée sugar crusted vanilla bean custard with grand marnier madeleine
Bistro Apple Tart crisp apple tart with crème fraîche & calvados sauce

We'll have houseguests that weekend. We may be able to do other weekends in October.

Have a great time, either way!

Sorry to miss you if so but it's definitely still a working date. Unlikely to change unless enough people can provide a firm commitment to another specific weekend or two. Which other weekends would you be able to confirm?

I will be there.

Hard to start thinking about restaurants until we have a better idea of attendance, but do people want to stick with places like Bistro Bis (have been good and reliable on food and set up with a range of party sizes) or seek out something new?

Everyone really enjoyed Bistro Bis last time, so I think that should stay in play. Let's see how many people we have first because that's going to be an important factor. I personally wouldn't mind picking something different food wise than Charlie Palmer, but the setup there was really nice. Especially when people were worried about Covid. We'll have to see how much of a factor that is this time.

See this is why we do the annual convention around April 1st. It is literally the only weekend of the year that the most people can attend. Otherwise, literally, the rest of the year is like this. Some people can make certain weekends, etc. Trust me, we’ve been through this equation before. That’s why I start with Stefan and see what’s the most critical mass we can come up with.

Yeah the problem is that we got messed up with COVID issues last year and it moved the schedule backwards. April felt soon to do it again after October last year but we probably should have.

If it really is that much easier to get people together in the spring, maybe we should demote this from being the official “BWE 2022” and just make it a get together for all who can attend. Personally I’d like to have a big blowout in the spring too

I'm up for both also. We certainly don't have to call it BWE 2022, especially if a lot of OG's can't make it. I was just trying to keep the unbeaten streak alive. Either way, I think it will still be good to get together with some folks that we haven't seen in a while.

I totally agree with you guys.
This doesn't have to be anything more than what it is.
If we are able to get a couple nice Friday/Saturday night dinners in during October, that would be fabulous.
Start with the mighty Stefan, and work from there.
Make sure it's a weekend that DavidG can attend.
Now that my most recent trial is over I can resume focus on my October murder trial.
The prosecutors are being a little more difficult than we expected, we thought we had a decent shot at a manslaughter plea, and we may still, but there is a lot more work to do and right now we are going to trial.
As I've said previously, if I'm in trial, I'm out. If I settle, I'm sure I can work my schedule to make a trip into DC in October.
The problem is that I may not know the answer for a while, perhaps even not up until the eve of trial.

To do Oct we would have to cancel something. Choices choices...
The easiest would be 21-22 and we just miss a concert on the 21st, or only come for the 22nd.
14-15 we could maybe do 15. We still don't know the car event schedule that weekend yet.

Would definitely love to see you both. Is 28/29 an option for you at all? That seems to be the other weekend that might work for the most people

The later the better for us. Lucie has to recover from knee replacement before we go anywhere, so 28/29 is more likely for us than 14/15.

Made a few updates to the original post. Looking like the 28th/29th might be better for the majority. Specifically anyone who already confirmed 14/15 but CANNOT make 28/29, please mention asap. Thanks

I have a conference with the judge first thing Monday morning concerning my murder trial.
I think we are going to know the exact dates of the trial by Monday morning but I am very confident that 28/29 would work for me whether we go to trial or not.

So far I haven't heard anyone say that the 14/15 are definitely better for them than the 28/29 while I have heard a lot in reverse. So it looks like the 28/29 are the best dates and we should plan on that moving forward. Glad to have a bit more time to organize as well. I'll start updating the head counts on the original post soon unless I hear otherwise from folks asap.

In my experience (1962-2012), only 1972 and 1992 suck, and even 1992 produced some pleasant luncheon claret.

But what about 1962 - one of my favorite vintages of Bordeaux. Unfortunately, I am all out of 1962 Bordeaux.

Happy to bring some 1982s - it was our wedding year so I did buy a few.

Let’s not get too deep into a theme. My favorite theme is wines that are drinking well now!

Let's get it on!
We met with the judge yesterday.
Will be doing a final pretrial meeting Thursday afternoon.
In any event, if we go to trial, it looks like we are picking a jury October 3rd and the trial will follow thereafter for two weeks, so I should be safe for 28/29. Let's get it on!
