Happy Thanksgiving to all BWE'rs!

We are hosting 26 for dinner today. The turkey is roasting now and now it's time to start assembling the wine line-up and other assorted beverages.

I look forward to reading wine choices everone partakes of. It's always a challenge to come up with options for the non-wino crowd. I'll have at least one or two better bottles for myself and aspiring wino daughter-in-law to enjoy.

Thank you for your friendship over the years.
My favorite day of the year.
It's a splendid, crisp sunny day here in Maine.
We'll have about 15 of us over at my brother's house later this afternoon.
Lots of football to be watched. I'll go out for a walk this morning.
I'm in charge of bringing the wines.
Haven't picked out my selections yet but I'll definitely be bringing one of those 2018 Domaine Michel Niellon Chassange-Montrachet.

As tradition for us commands, we will meet at one of my sister in law’s place for dinner. But before that, the three families (along with the kids) join together to prepare food during the day, while (the adults) sipping some weekday quaffers. For the dinner, we will open some good ones, and luckily all the adults who drink are vino people...

Happy Thanksgiving! Just three for dinner here today. I have the turkey in the oven, dressing ready to go in, etc.
I started sipping on a glass of 2020 Paumanok Chenin Blanc at 10am when the Manchester Road Race started. It was an epic race, and the wine has me excited to buy more if I can. Good day so far!
Its noon now and I just finished a small glass of 2016 Lilian Ladouys that accompanied my brunch - ham sandwiches on cheddar rosemary biscuits.
Gotta save the Chenin for turkey later.

We are on our own today with local siblings all visiting the other side of their families. Rather than turkey for two, we are doing a roasted capon with herbs de provence (a French recipe). I'm opening a 2005 Leclerc Gevrey Levaux St. Jacques, and a 2008 Zind Humbrecht Gewurz Turckheim with the meal. We are sipping on a home-made cranberry liquer with Champagne as we cook. Happy Thanksgiving to all BWE'ers!

The turkey and fixings seemed extra delicious this year, everything went swimmingly with the 2018 Domaine Michel Niellon Chassange-Montrachet, 2019 Ridge Geyserville, 2016 Altesino Brunello di Montalicino, and 2020 Chateau Thivin Cote de Brouilly Cuvee Zaccharie. All of the wines shined with the cheese course appetizer, turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, string beans, stuffing, squash, buns/butter, I should have brought some Sauternes with the apple pie dessert but we managed through it.

Yes I saved the Niellon for when the turkey came out, it was a perfect match.
I was happy to find some when we were at MacArthur's last month.
They are hiding it on us, they don't have it listed on the website.
I loved the 2019 Geyserville as well with the food, I've gotta get more of that stuff.

Very quiet and meaningful if atypical (no turkey, alcohol, or football) Thanksgiving with just the 3 of us.

I had Thanksgiving in Miami with some family on my wife’s side, 14 adults. Although the host is a senior member of an international liquor company, none of them are real wine drinkers.

I brought these three bottles I procured from Costco:
#1. 2021 Rombauer Chardonnay - I expected a sweet, oaky, gloppy mess. Instead, it turned out to be an extremely bitter undrinkable mess. How do they sell this stuff? (15% consumed)
#2. 2019 Duckhorn Merlot - drinkable, but boring, boring, boring. (20% consumed) In the past though I have found their “3 Palms Vineyard” Merlot quite tasty.
#3. 2017 Emiliana Gê - now this is actually quite good; an interesting blend of Syrah,Carmenère and Cabernet Sauvignon from Chile. Spicy, moderately tannic, flavorful; I spent the night with this one. (75% consumed) Later, I realized this is probably too pricey for a family gathering of beer and whiskey drinkers ($69) but hey, I need something I can actually drink.

Yet the bottle of M&R Asti Spumante someone else brought was quickly drained .

Maybe I should wait for an invitation to Stefan’s party.

Just us and our daughter for A Thanksgiving prix fixe dinner in Westlake CA. I ordered a 2016 François Leclerc Gevrey Chambertin off the list that was light, aromatic, delicious and delightful. Highly recommend
