The 2000 BAMA is Un...wait just slightly corked.

I was really looking forward to this wine and sense that I would like it better than the 1995 which was just way too utterly classic for me that it turned a bit boring. I had to pour multiple tastes to confirm as this was probably the least corked wine that I've ever had. Sadly it was just slightly there and noticeable enough that I had to open something else.

I wouldn't have wasted a post on this, but as a backup I opened one of my half bottles of 1985 Beychevelle. Wow does this sing out of the gate. The spices on the nose are insane. Reminiscent of the 1983 VCC I had early in the year (probably my WOTY). Lovely light-medium bodied wine. 12.5% abv. Tannins fully integrated. Less meaty than the last bottle. Great touch of cassis. Just lovely older Beychevelle. This gives the 1982 a run for it's money. Beats the lovely 1978 and 1989.

Long story short. I love 1985. I also love Beychevelle. I am backfilling both wherever I can. As much as I enjoy 1989, 1990, 1986, 1982 and 1983, I think that 1985 is my favorite Bordeaux vintage of all time. I have had very little 1981 and 1988 to have enough data, but I really doubt that they would pull ahead.

I have one more bottle of the 2000 BAMA, hopefully that will give me an accurate representation. Also just picked up a 1998 that OrlandoBobby raves about. We shall see.

As for the 1985 Beychevelle, I have 7 splits left. Happy to bring a few to BWE London. Theres been a bit of bottle variation but the 3 I've had so far have been quite good. Although maybe just heading downslope at this point.

I had the 89 recently. Very nice wine. More structured and dense than any Beychevelle I've had. Product of the vintage probably. I have one more bottle. A few others recently have been more my style. 82, 83, 85 I'd say. All lighter. The 82 and 83 more red fruited in a really pretty way. Almost just a touch of cola, but in a good way. Very interesting Chateau. Need more.

I was looking forward to trying it, especially compared to the 1995 which I liked and saw the beauty in, but wasn't quite for me. I have one more bottle. Or maybe the TCA will blow off on this one. Have you had the 98?
