Makes you weep…bear in mind the US and UK CPI indexes have only roughly - or slightly less than - doubled since February 1994

Unfortunately for us, they ended all too quickly.

From this list I remember purchasing full cases of

1982 Ch Margaux (two bottles left)
1989 La Mission Haut Brion (three left)
1981 Lafite (finito)
1990 Petrus (five left) and
1991 Rousseau CSJ (one left)

In addition to what is reproduced below the list had three cases of Gentaz Dervieux Cote Rotie 1989 for £260in bind which now sells for about £3000 a bottle

I was seeing somewhere that a case of 1995 Petrus goes for like $55,000. I’ll never forget when the woman cracked open the lone case of 1995 Petrus in the New Hampshire system right in front of me, it would have been summer of 1998, at $275 per bottle. She said to me, how many would you like? I’ll have just one, thanks. If I could only go back in time.

Roberto offered me an OWC of 1996 DRC Grands Echezeaux for $200 per bottle circa 2005 when he started selling off some of his wine. I never got back to him.

Brutal. I had all my hair, no lower back stiffness and wine was cheap.

You did well to buy some from that list, Ian. Do you think about selling or trading some that are left? If those were mine, I would happily trade one of the 1990 Petrus for two 1989 Haut-Brion if I would not have to pay income tax on the imputed gain on the Petrus.

That looks like a good trade stefan, because Haut-Brion 1989 is probably the better wine. Of the Petrus 1990 I have drunk three or is it four? - the most enjoyable was the first matched against a Dominus 1991 around the year 2000. Since then it has been very closed down. I sold three many years ago - about 15 years ago - and bought one bottle each of Romanee Conti & La Tache 1980 with the proceeds and was very glad I did. I opened one in 2013 and it was very closed and again last year. I could sell them as we have no CGT on wine here.

Marc those prices were for 12 bottle cases.
