We had that last night, and I quite liked it. This is very a wine that fit my definition of Chianti.

Medium red color, with light brown rims. Nice classic nose of wild cherries, red berries, light black licorice and violet flowers. In mouth, nice mixture of cherry fruit, nice acidity and good tannic strucrure. This wine has also some flowers, light vegetal and light old wood character, and it drinks perfectly well, as being only medium concentration, but decent long. Maybe some light dark chocolate with more cherries at the end. Nice. Tn: 89-90.

Very nice,
We just finished a half bottle of the 2017 Rancia, it was absolutely delicious, very balanced with bright fruit and good structure and finish. That half botte didn't stand a chance

Yes, that 2017 Rancia is splendid, I only have one bottle left.
Gonna pick up some 2019 of the basic Felsina, it never seems to disappoint.

Let's stay in touch Nicolas, maybe we'll make it there this summer, we are thinking Provence so far but anything can change.

Jim, I also love this wine a lot, my local store still has 3 half bottles, I'll go buy them Monday

The 2019 Felsina Chianti Classico is a great wine for drinking now, even though it will age easily for 5+ more years. And the 2017 Rancia is a wow wine. If interested, you can still get the 750s of the Rancia at Empire Wine for about $47 with free shipping on a case of 12 bottles that qualify.

Oops, it was the 2020 Felsina Berardenga, that wine seems consistent year after year.

Wait, you finished up your 2017 Rancia's? I'm still drinking the 1995s - 2004s and only the 1995s seemed anywhere really ready.

Ha ha yep, I bought about a half dozen, I've got one left. Both the 2016 and 2017 Rancia are outstanding, I think I like the 2017 even better, at least the way it is drinking now.

Had another bottle tonight. Cork was a bit loose, less intensity, but still very Chianti with it violet flowers, licorice, cherry character. Good tannins and acidity, light animal skunk, old wood. Decent length. Nice, slightly austere, classic.

Put up the 2007 Felsina Fontalloro vs the Rancia from the same vintage at an Italian BYOB just across the border and while both were well made, my issue stemmed from the fact that you could still taste the oak barrels on the Fontalloro. Will it ever fully integrate?

Rancia > Fontalloro in this vintage, for my palate and at this stage in the game.
Fontalloro vs Rancia
