Nice, LLC-like, St. Julien nose at the outset....

I think you will like this. I had more than a few from my case. It's good now with potential. Enjoy.

2019 Chateau Gloria is a WilliamP kind of wine. After a long weekend of drinking Bordeaux behemoths in Florida, this medium bodied beauty is warmly greeted as an under the radar star. The first impression is the distinctive St. Julien nose, very LLC-like. The oak is appropriately present. The color is a Lafite/Lafon northern Medoc ruby. The wine is medium bodied, 14%, which sounds about right, it is very St. Julien in character. Love it. This is elegant, restrained, and classy. Comes in at about $40 per bottle, what's not to like. Drinking well young but will be drinking well in 20+ years, which seems to be a common theme among the still limited number of 2019s I've tasted so far. This is a lovely wine, I will definitely purchase more when they go on sale in NH. Rating: 92 points.

Jim, when I was purchasing the 2019s I was choosing between Saint Pierre and Gloria but ended up buying Saint Pierre. After reading your notes and the notes from the Southwold tasting I think I will go grab at least a few bottles.

Indeed, Will, it's a great QPR, and it just seemed so St. Julien. A beauty!

For long time consumers of Gloria, do you think this is different than it was a generation ago? I haven't had recent vintages, maybe a 2015 with WilliamP, but it felt like it had more ageability than prior era examples.

The 2010 Gloria seemed big and bold, more so than in years past, when I tried it on release. I liked it a lot.

I have not had a lot of Gloria over the years. I loved that 2002 Gloria we heisted from MacArthur's a few years back. This 2019 seems medium bodied, beautifully balanced, quintessential St. Julien.
