The 2019 Kirwan has been uncorked and other ramblings....

Post by JimHow »

I had a small taste of this the other night at a family birthday party among other wines, I liked what I tasted, looking to examine it a little more closely tonight. Bought a bunch today in NH as part of European wine sale.

You know what else is really nice, is that 2020 Felsina Berardenga basic chianti, but then again when is it not.

On the basis of Felsina's year in and year out consistency (and a couple of reviews), I just ordered a case of the 2020 basic chianti classico. I suspect it will be just my first case of that wine. Somehow those bottles just seem to disappear . . .

I bought ten more today, Jon, it's a beauty.
It was perfect with chocolate birthday cake dessert the other night.

I drank the 2019 Kirwan on Thursday night - will post more reviews separately.
Just say it is a lot better than any other Kirwan I've tried.

Yes I would agree with that Claudius. It is a medium weight wine, clean, well made. Nothing fancy, but a solid 90 points. It developed nicely as the night went along, floral, silky, lovely.

I don’t think any dry wine goes with chocolate cake. Maybe vintage Port or sweet Madeira but that’s about it.

Tell me why I am wrong.
