Reynolds Winery in Napa did something similar, although only in Napa. IMHO it was not special or worth the cost.

This sounds worse than Nicola’s fake Burgundy!

It’s the South African Cabernet Franc that is really going to push this wine over the top.

While I’m more a reader of this forum than a contributor, I’m in the middle of a long layover at the airport in Madrid, and cannot resist sharing my initial impressions:

Well. So much for wine as the bottled geography of a particular place.

Frankenwine! An abomination of international anonymity? Or should I learn to stop worrying and love the juice? Sure, it’s really just a novelty, but why does it seem more wrong to make a wine untethered from place like this, than by way of simple cellar trickery?

I’m half surprised they didn’t go all-in and call it “Cuvée United Nations.” Maybe a fine idea for a future batch, featuring varietals from all the permanent Security Council member-nations. Lyrics to “We are the World” laser-etched on the bottle, of course.

Cardinale is sort of this, from within the the Jess Jackson empire.

It's pretty darn good, but has become - like all Napa flagships - very costly.
