With filet and truffle butter, roasted brussel sprouts and baked potatoes:
2000 Lagrange
What a beauty and in the zone. PnP, perfect cork. Not be the highest scoring Bordeaux, but it was the perfect accompaniment to the meal. Nothing out of place. Wonderful wine; soaring aromatics, beautiful palate and a hang-glide finish. A four star effort.
2000 Haut Bailly
What a contrast this was... the first bottle was off: thin and watery. Dumped. A second bottle was better. A little gravel, dusty tannin. Not our favorite. A three star effort with the caveat that both these bottles may be off.
A Pair of 2000's

Like that report on a Lagrange. A wine i always enjoy. The 1990 has been epic in the past.
I think i have only some 2016 left.

Re: A Pair of 2000's
Mmm great update RP, we drank many 2000 Lagranges from half bottles upon release and we knew it was a beauty.
Re: A Pair of 2000's
I have also enjoyed 2000 Lagrange. There are so many excellent 2000 (I have not drunk Haut-Bailly).
Re: A Pair of 2000's
Sadly I think both your bottles of the Haut Bailly were off. I've had that wine a couple times in as many years and its a great classic Bordeaux. Not a ton of fruit left, very structured but balanced. They do tend to have somewhat dusty tannins but not overpowering.
The 1990 recently was even better though. Beautiful dark fruit.
