I appreciate the power of Lytton but prefer the more complex and nuanced Geyserville, but I do not claim that Geyserville is better.

Boy, it's a tough call for me, Mr. Johnson, I had a bottle of the 2020 Geyserville, which was nuanced as you described, and a bottle of the 2019 Lytton Springs, which was bold and fruity but certainly not overwhelmingly more powerful than the Geyserville. Tough call. I've got them both at an outstanding 94 points, in their own slightly nuanced ways. Loved them both, I honestly can't decide which I like better!

Both are good for me, but I slightly prefer Geyserville to Lytton Springs...Maybe older vines along with general higher content of Carignan in Geyserville contribute to that complexity compared to Lytton Springs. But both are really good, and I guess it's a matter of preference...

It's been a while, and I like them both, but I prefer the Lytton. I've never had a disappointing bottle of either though.

This would be a very tough blind tasting kind of competition.

Tried to vote 4 or 5 times and kept changing my mind. Eventually settled on Geyserville. Twenty or thirty years ago I would have easily chosen Lytton. Not that the wines were that different then, but I was.

What are the main differences between the two of them? About 18 months ago I bought a six pack of the 2019s: two of each and two ‘east bench’

I prefer the slightly more nuanced, complex and more elegant Geyserville. Many vintages, i score it the same as the Lytton Springs, but the Geyserville has the edge for me.

In my younger days I liked LS. As I grew older, I prefer G. I would gladly drinker either one. For me, it's not a matter of better, rather the wine I would prefer to drink.

I usually much prefer Geyserville, not because I don’t really love Lytton Springs, but because I think Geyserville is/can be truly transcendent. But just when I am ready to put all my chips on Geyserville, I have a bottle of LS that reopens the debate all over again.

Sounds like a "draw" to me. I've not bought either for the past 10 years, but it was always a toss-up to me for enjoyment.

The unanimous vote for Geyserville does not tell the entire story. It reminds me of some unanimous votes by juries.

Yeah, funny that the vote is so lopsided yet so many who have commented said they preferred Geyserville by a tiny margin.

I suspect if we all scored them on a 100-point scale, it would come out something like Geyserville 94.6, Lytton Springs 94.4. I wonder if there’s a simple way to look up an average or median CT score across multiple vintages of a wine without slogging through to calculate weighted averages.
