2000 Cos Estounel

Post by ericp »

2000 Cos Estournel -

Opened an hour, then decanted another hour. No hint of bricking for a wine of 23 yrs old. Cedar, lead pencil, graphite, minerals and blue fruits on the nose. Tannins are well integrated but still quite present. Really drinking well and will continue for a long while. No rush to drink up, probably 4-6 Blanquitos left.

So you think it’s a fifty year wine?

It may very well be Marc, I was surprised at the level of tannin still remaining given the other 2000 chateau I’ve drunk through. After about a hour after decanting the tannins really came to life so I did the mouthwash test — I had to shave my tongue after that. 😛
