Yes, a great man and the antithesis of the snobbish chateau owner. Jean-Michel was a public relations genius and an excellent ambassador for the Médoc.
He will be sorely missed.

Great stuff, Danny, thanks for posting. We had a lovely French/Japanese dinner last night here in Tokyo, I ordered the 2002 Lynch off the wine list.

One little historical note about JMC - because he was long involved in the insurance brokering business he helped introduce AXA to the region. Now that insurance company has a large portfolio of wine brands and vineyards, even beyond Bordeaux.

Nice tribute with the LB in Tokyo. We hope that you are enjoying your time there. We found many restaurants through our travels in Japan had quite reasonably priced Grand Vin.

That is indeed the case, Danny. The 2002 Lynch was a lovely classic Pauillac, reserved and classy, lead pencil in the forefront.
We have had the trip of a lifetime, what a wonderful city. I'll report back, heading home today.
