Jean-Michel Cazes
A very, very sad day. Rest in peace, friend of BWE.
Re: Jean-Michel Cazes
Rest in peace indeed, a true gentleman and pioneering legend of modern Bordeaux.

Re: Jean-Michel Cazes
RIP Mr. Cazes, friend of BWE, and the benefactor behind the greatness of Château Lynch Bages, and especially 1989.
You'll never be forget here.

Re: Jean-Michel Cazes
I was sad to hear the news earlier today.
Re: Jean-Michel Cazes
Yes, a great man and the antithesis of the snobbish chateau owner. Jean-Michel was a public relations genius and an excellent ambassador for the Médoc.
He will be sorely missed.

Yes Jim a very sad time for Bordeaux. This kind, generous statesman will be sadly missed.

Wow, that is very sad. RIP.
Re: Jean-Michel Cazes
Such sad news. May he live on in his wines and in the memories of those he touched. RIP.
Re: Jean-Michel Cazes
Someone please post that wonderful picture of him enjoying lunch with the BWE crew in 2005.

Re: Jean-Michel Cazes
Great stuff, Danny, thanks for posting. We had a lovely French/Japanese dinner last night here in Tokyo, I ordered the 2002 Lynch off the wine list.
Re: Jean-Michel Cazes
Thank you Danny.
Re: Jean-Michel Cazes
One little historical note about JMC - because he was long involved in the insurance brokering business he helped introduce AXA to the region. Now that insurance company has a large portfolio of wine brands and vineyards, even beyond Bordeaux.
Re: Jean-Michel Cazes
Jim,
Nice tribute with the LB in Tokyo. We hope that you are enjoying your time there. We found many restaurants through our travels in Japan had quite reasonably priced Grand Vin.

Re: Jean-Michel Cazes
That is indeed the case, Danny. The 2002 Lynch was a lovely classic Pauillac, reserved and classy, lead pencil in the forefront.
We have had the trip of a lifetime, what a wonderful city. I'll report back, heading home today.
