2009 Poujeaux…

Post by ericp »

Popped and poured. Nose of dark berries, and leather with a hint of blueberry. Palate of dark fruit, a bit of cedar.

Onto the grill a goes a NY Strip….

Boy, this is punching above its weight. After a couple hours in the decanter, this is fully in bloom, and ready for business. Red fruit, cedar a bit of cassis and a hint of menthol. Still plenty of structure but the tannins are nicely integrated. No rush to drink, but man this is drinking well right now.

Nice Eric.

Poujeaux and Chasse-Spleen are solid and seem to never deceive.

Maybe i should buy a few 2016 Poujeaux, as available here and a "relative bargain" vs Crus Classés.

Nice note.

I picked up 6 of these just a few days ago from auction. I've been drinking this pretty regularly over the last couple of years and agree, it punches well above its weight. Classic Bordeaux and with plenty of life ahead of it.

I hear Ian is going to be in New Zealand this fall, Ian, hopefully you can meet up for a fine northern Medoc or two!

I didn't know that, Jim. Thanks for the heads up.

Ian - please feel free to reach out as it would be great to meet up and I'm more than happy to show you around if you're spending any time in Auckland.
Cheers.

Spot on Jim, totally a BWE kind of wine - wish I had more than a couple bottles left.

I’ve got a case of 15, but as Nicola mentioned - might need to grab some 16 too!
