2001 Rieussec

Post by SF Ed »

Exactly what I want in a Sauternes. Great balance, fully mature, loads of botrytis, long, intense. Drinks well now and should continue to drink well until 2030 at least. Nice.

A perfect match with an apple crisp with the first Gravensteins of the year with homemade caramel ice cream (anyone who has dined with us in August has had this dessert).

I have a bottle of this hidden away somewhere. Thanks for the tasting note. Rieussec has always been one of my favorites since having the 83 ages ago

Nice note on a great Sauternes that was rated 100 points and named Wine Spectator’s WOTY, Jimmy Suckling tends to over-inflate many of his scores but he nailed this one.

Sounds great. I haven’t tried the 01 Rieussec yet but I did try my first 01 Suduiraut not long ago and what a great young Sauternes it is.

2001 Sauternes are fabulous, and that Rieussec sounds gorgeous Ed.

I think the only Rieussec i have left is the 2011.

A summer/fall fruit dessert and any of those elite 2001 Sauternes sounds like an amazing match.
