MC is less interested than ever to drink red wines from Bordeaux.

I want to prove she is wrong. But with what wine? Of course, 1982 Château Mouton Rothschild could help to change her mind, but let says <100 $, and 2014 or younger to start (no old vintages available here).

When you think that even that bottle of 2016 Mouton lets her... blah....

The only Bordeaux wines I've had in the last 3-4 months were at the NYC BWE.
Embrace the change and drink:
Rhone
Loire
Burgundy
Tuscan
Piedmont
Campania (Aglianico)
Etna
Rioja
Ribeira
Ok, if you insist, then Beaujolais also.

A couple other young Bordeaux I enjoyed recently are 2016 Ch Tronquoy-Lalande and 2016 Ch. Prieure-Lichine, but many 2014s are hitting their stride now.

Does her disinterest apply more specifically to the cabernet based wines or merlot based ones or is it an equal disinterest in both? And could this disinterest have to do with the apparent maturity of the wines you’ve been drinking?

Asking to MC, she is having problem with alcohol/too much concentration/ lower acidity from wines from both banks. So i guess aging the more contrated wines, or buying little aoc with lower alcohol would be a start.

I think it is an equation that doesn't has an easy solution!

Or stick to what Jal says. But i like to open a red Bordeaux once in a while, but that means that i need guesses or BWE events, to help me drinking/enjoying it.

If I want to open a Bordeaux once in a while, I do it with grilled lamb or beef, then open something old school such as Cantemerle, La Lagune, Calon Segur, Lafon Rochet or what Chris said: Labegorce or Prieure Lichine, I make sure to decant in advance, use big stems. Oh, and I would stay away from right bank wines that are overly fruity and extracted.

Then hope for the best lol!

p.s. I'm sure you knew all that :D

Nic, open what you want. If MC does not like it, open something else for her. Repour the leftovers.
