Chateau Moulin Saint-Georges is owned by the Vauthier family of Chateau Ausone and I think it represents one of Saint-Emilion’s best kept secrets coming from a different, lesser, flat terroir from just across the street at 1/10th the price.

2019 Moulin Saint-Georges
A lovely melange of cherry and raspberry scents that are encompassed by mossy, forest floor notes that lead to a ripe, refreshing, dark red fruited palate that lingers effortlessly. 93+

Nice to hear that you liked it. One of our perennial favourites. Haven't had a weak bottle since late 90s but haven'y had the 2019.

the first vintage of MSG I tried was the 2006, purchased on clearance sale, and now buy it regularly.
I have some of the 2019 that i bought on en primeur so I'll leave it is the cellar for some time.

This property recently flashed across my radar for the first time, as another ‘trusted palate’ was singing the virtues of the 2000 Moulin St George as an excellent and traditional St Emilion.

JC and others, has the style changed much since 2000 or can this still be counted on to share commonalities with what made us love St Emilion before the garage movement essentially ruined it for traditionalist like myself?

Checking, I found this note on the 2020 MSG from Galloni (along side the compulsory 95+ pts from Suckling and Dunnuck):
The 2020 Moulin Saint-Georges is soft, fruity and easygoing, all of which make it a fine choice for drinking now and over the next handful of years. The blend is 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc, but even so, Moulin Saint-Georges is a wine of reserve and nuance. There?s terrific energy and vibrancy here. I would not be in any rush to open this. This gorgeous, under the radar Saint-?milion is not at all showy, but it will appeal tremendously to readers who like firm, classically built wines. I can?t wait to see how it ages. This is a major Sleeper.

A recent and last bottle of the 2000 was ABFAB! Well made and elegant....

The 2019 is 13.5% as per the back label.

I only see 2 vintages as being available within my NJ wholesale Provi app with one wholesaler showing the 2012 for $38 and another the 2019 for $30.90 (which was my entry price).

Patrick, no idea as this was a new to me property which I recently tasted before the Canon at the UGC and was pleasantly surprised and made me want to pick some up.

I’d take 6 of the 19 at that price, JC, if you’re gonna pick any more up!

The 2014 was quite good earlier this year, had it the Eastern weekend. Here is what I wrote:

2014 Chateau Moulin Saint Georges : a Saint Émilion made by the Vauthier family. A very nice wine, representative of the 2014 by it nice definition, medium concentration, perfect balance. Black currants and berries, tobacco, earth and light oak. Mouth is balanced between all the elements, with great fruit, earth mineral, noble oak, good tannins and that very seductive classical tones of the vintage. What a nice young wine. Tn: 91.

A 1982 purchased in the village of St. Emilion in 1993 and drunk in 1995 was an eye opener for me as far as aged Bordeaux wines. Sadly, I've not found myself buying much more over the years, mostly for pricing reasons. As a reference point, the 1982 was $12 US in 1993.

I wouldn't consider MStG to be classic St Emillion and is certainly crafted in a well made modern style. Not over the top and very drinkable but knowing your old school palate I'm not sure this is Blanquito friendly. Try one before you commit to quantity.

I loved older ones but I have not tried any recent vintages. This can be a bit tougher to find out West. Still have fond memories of a case of the 1998 that DavidG physially picked up for me from a DMV merchant (who did not ship)!
