Ch Cantemerle 2016

Post by Dandersson »

Still young this has a very classic feel to it. Dark fruit a touch of sourness developed on the second day. Good concentration. Great balance between the acidity, fruit and tannins. All and all a very classic Bordeaux, some lead pencil. This wine will likely mature in a very nice way. 2016 is clearly my favorite vintage of Bordeaux. Great QPR at $35. DA score 90-91.

Thanks for the note. I have yet to crack a 2016 of this. Sounds like a winner.

Yes David, it is a winner. You can wait several more years before you pull one.

I had this the other day and it was a incredible value. Love 2016 and for the price Cantemerle sings.

Thank you Dandersson for the update.

I still have some 2016 Cantemerle at home, and agree it is a convincing great Cantemerle "en devenir", while very drinkable now.

These 2016 are just marvellous. I'll report on a different thread but a 2016 Branas Grand Poujeaux last night was also excellent.

Bill, I feel like Cantemerle is underpriced maybe because it is a large estate and that it is only labeled as a Haut Medoc, just so close to the border of Margaux.

Nic, I have two bottles left, thinking about buying a couple more, sadly I am out of the 2014 which was also a very good wine.

Yup. Some of the best values in Bordeaux are wines that are only entitled to the Haut-Medoc Appellation.
