Some fun wines last night
Don't need to spend a fortune to drink good wines.

2022 Les Sagères Domaine Tardieux Gal : very nice Sauvignon blanc wine from AOC Touraine. Clear light yellow color, nose very typical with lemon, white berries, green grass, and white flowers. Mouth has good intensity, acidity and light vegetal bitterness, to support the nice acidic apples, lemon, star fruit and grapefruit flavors. Good lenght. Excellent for the low price. Tn: 89-90.
2019 Casa di Columbo Chianti Classico : a second bottle in one week. Excellent by it quaffability, with a nice Sangiovese nose ( violet flowers, cherries, light charcoaled meat, dark berries). Mouth is caressing, with light tannins, good attack on fruit (slightly sweet black berries and cherries) flavors, and also sweet blond tobacco, and light spices. Medium concentration mouth, perfumed long finish. Impossible to not like! Tn: 90.
2019 Brusco dei Barbi: just slightly rougher than the previous wine, with more tannins, but medium nose of cherries, and ripe cranberries, and a rosemary and light vegetal character. Mouth is having a good density of fruit like cherries, rasberries, earthy character, some light dark chocolate, and long final with cherries and tannins. Again, very well done for the low price. Tn: 90.
2016 Château Branas Grand Poujeaux : Moulis. This wine has all the qualities of other 2016 red Bordeaux, with intense red purple color, nose of creamy blackcurrants, dark rasberries, gravel, light lead pencil, and very light oak. Mouth is balanced, convincing, ripe rasberries and blackberries flavors, light vanilla wood, flowers, merlot berries, with ripe tannins, lot of pulp, long perfumed final. Still young, ripe and ambitious, but clearly a nice red Bordeaux. Tn: 91-92.
Did had only a small sip of the 2012 Château le Vivier, Médoc. Lighter in style than the 2016, more light vegetals, with less concentrated fruit, a bit light, but drinks well.

Yeah, we focus too much on the famous names. You seek out and find some wonderful not so famous wines. How do you do it?

Pretty good score on this by your standards. I usually don't dabble in wines that aren't from the specific appelations anymore as I haven't had great experience. AlexR tells me that it's time to start changing this if you know where to look.Nicklasss wrote: ↑Mon Oct 02, 2023 1:30 am
