TN: 2000 La Lagune

Post by Jay Winton »

Bordeaux brought us together, let it keep us together. Ok, off the pulpit. After having had this vintage several times over the years, I think patience has been rewarded as it showed the best yet. A solid core of Bordeaux left bank fruit surrounded by soft tannins. I decanted for a couple of hours which I recommend. I'll give this an A- today. It might improve a bit but drinking very well now.

I agree, Mr. Vino. This wine has turned out much better than I expected....

which is to say that it is OK to use it to use in a stew made for a mongrel cur.

Wow, I predicted you were going to scold him for extolling its virtues.

another 2000LL last night. Aerated for an hour and a slight mustiness remained. Not corked but not up to the level of the last one as above. One or two left. Served with shepherds pie with a mixture of ground chuck, veal and pork. A nice meal on a cold night.

Let this be a warning to anyone contemplating buying even oldish La Lagune. Expect to buy 3 or 4. to get one that is good. If you did not buy on release, forget it and bid on something else.
