Enjoyed a bottle of the ‘96 Pontet Canet with friends.
I’ve been opening a bottle every couple of years and my last two experiences with it show a wine at perfect maturity. Cedar and red plum on the nose. On the palate, both red and black currants with a gorgeous, velvety mouthfeel, tremendous balance and a long finish.
I gave it 95 points, and I won’t be waiting two years to open the next bottle.

This mirrors my most recent experience. I have 2-3 bottles remaining which I will get to in the next couple of years.
