Dinner at RCs house - Rack of lamb (damn that was good!), roasted potatoes and broccoli cheddar casserole.
2016 Pape Clement - Definitely modern bordeaux. On the nose red berries and earth with a slightly green/herbal undertone (in an interesting way). Full-bodied, with abundant red and black fruit on the palate, and more of that earthy quality coming through. Should age gracefully for a few decades. 93
2015 Ornellaia - Very young but so good. A lot of dark fruit, tobacco and tar, some spice on the nose - not much secondary development yet. The palate is very smooth, fine tannins and a very long finish. Very structured and alive. This is really good right now but will be fantastic with some more time and should keep for at least another 10-20yrs. 94
2015 Canalicchio di Sopra - On the nose, dark cherries, some blueberry and dried herbs. Well balanced with medium firm tannins and a good acidity that keeps everything in balance. Simply delicious and in my book edged out the Ornellaia . 94
