My first Pauillac Wine, I actually have a bunch of HBL vintages on hand, and coming, 2019-2022. These arrived recently in my area for a reasonable Canadian price of $91 and normally would go for over $120 even with the weak vintages.
70% Cab with 30% Merlot and Almost 12 years old so it is showing a hint of sediment so it's good to go. Aromas of prune, blackberry, violet, and a hint of barnyard. Flavours are the same without violet and barnyard but some cedar, and pepper. Medium plus acidity with approachable tannins. Medium plus finish that left a sweet silky feeling on the lips. Give this a 90-minute decant even though it drinks well from Pop n pour. Looking forward to future HBLs now. Cheers!
