2009 Bernadotte

After a brief warm up, cold air settled back in so I searched for a nice ready-to-drink Bordeaux.

Popped and poured. A nice garnet color, deepening into the core. Nose of blackberries, hints of blueberries....a dark-fruited wine. That is all I got on the nose. Flavor profile is the same and very simple. Medium finish. At $22 this beats out most in its class, but I found the wine too simple. Perhaps my palate is too sophisticated these days or this bottle was off. It just didn't do it for me. Drink up.

Finished off the remaining two glasses last night and I am pleasantly surprised. More complex for sure. A leafy Cabernet aroma has emerged with a lighter red-fruited current flavor and a bit of VA. I probably should have decanted. Still, not great but better on day two.

Not tried the 2009 though the 2005 was very good and had quite a bit of complexity drunk from magnums a few years back. It isn’t in the top category of course but over performed in that vintage.

Cheers
