Last night, opened a corked Lafon-Rochet 2016. Didn't open anything else afterwards.
This evening, opened an impulse purchase made today, Clos des Fous Itata 2022. 75% Cinsault and 25% Païs. The person at the checkout at the SAQ told me that she didn't like the nose but the mouth was ok.
Beautiful pale red color. On the nose and palate, there is a little obvious "rusticity", aromas of sweat, green wood, morello cherries, red cherries. There is also an exotic Sichuan type pepper, an aroma that I have not often smelled in wine. On the palate, it's not bad, flavors of spicy cherries, slightly bitter cranberries, exotic green wood, with a fresh, mineral finish of wet rock and pink pepper. Remains light in the mouth but very fragrant. For $19, it's very unique and no regrets. Another excellent wine different from this estate. Very educational as a wine and I recommend it to you.
