What is your Valentines Day wine?

Post by JimHow »

What wine are you drinking with your sweetheart on Valentines Day?

Also, an unrelated question....
What are your favorite weekday and cellar saver wines?

1. Probably cocktails and maybe a white Burgundy, as we will be on the beach in Florida.

2. Oregon PN. Tonight with leftovers it is a 2019 D. Drouhin Dundee Hills. I no longer own any Bdx cellar saver wine except for 2010 Haut Bergey, having drunk the others all up. The problem is that Bdx cellar saver wines I like, such as Lanessan, should be aged for a few years, and I stopped buying Bdx for Texas years ago.

Mid week Valentine Day, so no wines.

I have reduced significantly wines opened on weekdays... but Beaujolais or Chianti were my choices in the past.

I will be celebrating it this year and am planning on opening Tarlant Cuvee Louis Champagne (2000 base)

And then Jasmin Cote Rotie 1990, one of my desert island wines.

I had the Tarlant "Zéro" two weeks ago.
This was very fresh and focused, but perhaps à bit austere for my taste, and not just referring to the dosage.

2002 Fourrier Chambolle-Musigny Les Gruenchers.

While I'm a sucker for the Calon Segur label for Valentine's Day, I think a mature Chambolle is a better match. Too bad I'm all out of Les Amoureuses...

It's our 36th anniversary. Planning on an '88 Mouton and '88 Yquem but Peggy's been taking Tylenol and Advil for a sciatica flare so we'll postpone.

2001 Kalin Sauvignon Blanc
2006 Kapcsandry Cuvée State Line Vineyard

The Kalin was a bit over the hill for me but the hubby loved it. The Kapcsandry was nice but a not a killer - could use some more depth
